Tags
Also called: keyword or associated term
Tags are a type of labels, keywords or associated terms that allow visitors and search engines such as Google and Bing to find a Web site or a specific Web page more quickly. So using tags is part of search engine optimization. In a number of Web site systems, tags can be added to content. These tags can then be seen as signposts for visitors and search engines. So adding these tags is an opportunity to add more keywords or key words to content. It is a way to categorize content. These tags, of course, refer to the content on the web page in question. On social networks such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, the tag is marked by the "#" sign(hashtag).
Generate and use tag page
It is important to realize that you cannot use a tag indefinitely. After all, by creating a tag, you generate a tag page. This automatically includes all pages that fall under a specific tag (i.e. are tagged with the same tag). The use of tags improves the user-friendliness (read: clarity) of a website but if only one or a few articles are under the same tag, this comes at the expense of findability. In that case, the search engine will rank other websites that have more content under a specific tag higher in search results. So it is important to make considered choices regarding tag structure.
