Widget
A widget is a tiny application that can be integrated into a Web site. Within widgets, simple tasks can be performed or certain information can be displayed. For example, a calendar, a widget to display the current weather forecast, to be able to post and read comments to an article, a widget to like a page on Facebook, to chat with an employee or to display a list of headlines or job openings from another site.
In a broader sense, widgets are the graphical building blocks that make up a user environment, including buttons, menus and forms. Widgets are not necessarily tied to a Web site. Some computer programs, operating systems and mobile apps also allow users to add widgets to their interface.
