JSON
Also called: JavaScript Object Notation
JSON stands for JavaScript Object Notation. It is a standard for storing and exchanging information in a structured way, similar to XML. JSON is widely used in dynamic Web sites and Web applications to create interactive user interfaces. The JSON format lends itself well to using JavaScript to load information into the browser afterwards, a technique also called AJAX.
JSON uses the standard notation for objects in JavaScript. This makes it easier to read and process information. The format contains more information (such as data types), is more flexible and has less overhead. JSON is also a popular data format in other programming languages such as PHP.
