The home page is the starting page of a Web site on the Internet. The term literally means "home page. The home page welcomes visitors and entices them to click through to a follow-up page. In addition to introductory text, the home page often includes a preview of the rest of the site, equipped with click-through options.
The home page may well not be the first page a visitor views while visiting a Web site. Through a search engine or external link, the visitor may also enter through another page. In that case, the visitor can still click through to the homepage (via a home option in the menu) to continue his visit from there.

Homepage is also the name for a personal website.
