Java
Java is a platform-independent and object-oriented programming language. Platform-independent means that Java can be used on (almost) any device. Java is widely used for developing applications. The language is also used within websites (Java Applets) and mobile apps.
There is also a popular scripting language called JavaScript. Other than the name, however, the two languages have little in common.
