Friendly URL
Also called: friendly URL
A friendly URL is a web address within a website that is worded in such a way that it can be fully understood by the visitor. The friendly URL makes it clear to a visitor which subpage he is on within the website and is easier to remember and exchange. Because friendly URLs can contain valuable keywords, they also contribute to good search engine findability.
Example of an unfriendly URL:
www.domeinnaam.nl/index.php?p=2315&a=95421
Example of a friendly URL:
www.domeinnaam.nl/pasta/macaroni
Many cms systems offer the ability to automatically create friendly URLs. The "translation" of a friendly URL into the correct information page by the cms is also called URL rewriting.
