Semantics
Semantics is the study of meaning in language, programming languages, symbols and logic. Semantics, or theory of meaning, is concerned with the relationship between words, signs and symbols and the things they stand for. It is the linguistic and philosophical science that focuses on the choice of words and symbols and their meanings. The term is derived from the ancient Greek semantikos, meaning significant or significant.
The semantic web
The semantic web (English: semantic web) is the part of the Internet where websites are equipped with semantic information and code that adds structure and meaning to the information provided. The addition of metadata and descriptive html code and the use of additional standards makes it easier to share data and information and have it processed for various applications.
The standards used by the semantic web are managed by the W3C. Data made available for free use using the semantic web is also known as open data.
