Data traffic
Data traffic is the amount of information (in bytes) sent to and from a Web site. The more visitors a Web site has, the more data traffic is generated. The size of the Web site itself is also a determining factor. If there are many large images and movies on the site, the website will generate more data traffic than a site that consists mainly of text.
Along with the amount of storage space available, the amount of data traffic is an important feature of a hosting subscription.
When taking out a hosting subscription, the customer usually gets a fixed amount of data traffic each month. If this is not sufficient, more data traffic can be purchased. However, often the amount of data traffic can also be reduced by compressing images, videos and the website's source code more effectively.
