E-zine
Also called: webzine, online magazine, web magazine or e-magazine
E-zine is a contraction of the words electronic and magazine. E-zines are magazines or newspapers that are not printed but published in digital form. Distribution is usually via the Internet. The related term webzine explicitly refers to online magazines published on the Web.
An e-zine can be a regular (news) website that bills itself with the identity of an online magazine. The form and look can also be more like a traditional magazine or glossy magazines. You can then browse through these virtually within the browser. There are also e-zines that are distributed via e-mail, similar to an e-mail newsletter.
Most online magazines differ from websites and weblogs in that they use periodical editions composed of multiple articles as opposed to a daily stream of newly added content.
The advantage of magazines published online over printed publications is that the costs of production and distribution are much lower. There is no need to print and distribute physical copies; all "sales" can be made through their own platform. The business model of most e-magazines, like print newspapers and magazines, leans heavily on ad sales. The lower cost of creation and distribution also usually translates into lower advertising rates than print.
An e-zine can also be published in subscription form or to promote a product or brand.
