A hyperlink or link is a reference from one web page or website to another. A hyperlink, thanks to the html code of a page, can be linked to a word or series of words, as well as to an image or a banner.
Hyperlinks are the "glue" of the Internet that connect all web pages together. Links between Web sites and between pages within a Web site make information on the Web easily accessible.
Hyperlinking also plays a role in how search engines work. The more a site is linked to, the higher it is findable for related search terms in Google. Acquiring more links to improve search engine rankings is called link building.
