Content management system

A content management system (cms) or website management system is an online application that allows users to manage the content of a website in an approachable way. Specific technical knowledge is generally not required. Because content (content) and design (layout) are separated, a cms also makes it easier to maintain complex websites.
Website content is managed in a content management system through a private management environment. The texts of the website are usually stored in a database. The "front end" of the cms ensures that the pages and texts created at the back end are merged with the design templates(templates) so that the site's pages are displayed correctly to visitors.
CMS systems come in different shapes and sizes. Installing a content management system and launching the desired Web site usually does require knowledge of Web site development. Many web builders work with a fixed cms, which may or may not have been developed in-house and may have a licensing model attached to it for use. There are (free) open source systems such as Drupal, WordPress and Joomla. Sometimes it is possible and desirable to have a customized cms made.
When choosing a cms, it is important to consider what features are needed for the website to be built. Especially when choosing an open source system, once the website is completed, one must also consider the maintenance and updating of the system.
