Virtual is an adjective referring to things that are not tangible, but exist only imaginatively, digitally or as metaphors.
A virtual reality (virtual reality) is a digitally simulated and animated world. Think of a virtual tour of a museum or the briefly very popular virtual world Second Life. Virtual reality has become a familiar concept with the advent of computers and the Internet.
In addition, virtual can also refer to an expectation of what is likely to happen. Think of a projection of future profit or sales figures based on actual data from the past and present. In such a case, we speak of a virtual result. A cyclist can "virtually ride in yellow" when his lead in the race could give him the top spot in the intermediate classification.
Statistical analysis also often uses imaginary data. An example: the average purchase amount per visitor is a virtual amount.
