Location Based Service
Also known as: LBS
Location-based services (LBS) use a person's location to offer them services and/or information relevant to that position. Location-based Service is a principle widely used in apps and uses a smartphone or tablet 's internal GPS receiver or location information from the mobile network.
Examples of location-based services include displaying restaurants in the immediate area or showing advertising from nearby businesses.
To provide location-based services requires a mobile device with Internet connection, an application to provide the service and, of course, the user's location. The location can only be determined if the user has confirmed that the application has access to location data coming from, for example, the GPS receiver.
