Customer Counter
A customer counter is a device that keeps track of how many people enter and leave a store. In other words, it counts the number of people who have visited the store. This information, along with the number of customers, can be used in determining conversion rates in a physical store, analyzing marketing campaigns and evaluating in-store marketing.
Customer counters are almost always placed at the entrance to the store and sometimes at specific departments. The technology can include infrared sensors (heat) or a beam of infrared or laser light. Most counters can distinguish between incoming and outgoing customers. To analyze customer flows, detection of WiFi signals from smartphones is also used today. Many systems can be read remotely or store data in the cloud.
