Triple play
Triple play is a marketing term from the telecom industry. It refers to the simultaneous provision of three services over one broadband data connection: Internet, television (IPTV) and fixed telephony. By making a competitive offer for all these services in one package, customers are enticed to purchase these services at the same time from the same provider.
The services usually use the same connection. This can be based on cable (CAI), DSL or fiber. If a provider does not have its own network, a mix of different technologies is also possible.
Because many consumers opted for triple play in recent years, many providers switched to quadruple play as a sales strategy. This combines triple play with offering mobile subscriptions.
