PDF
Also known as: Portable Document Format
Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format for storing documents and images. Files in this format have the extension .pdf.
The major advantage of this file format over others is that it describes the content of documents in a way that does not make the user dependent on particular software, hardware or operating systems. A PDF file contains all the text, fonts and graphics necessary to display it.
PDF, like EPS, is a derivative of PostScript. Like EPS, PDF can contain both raster data and vector data. The file format was developed by Adobe, but is now an open standard.
