Quadruple play
Quadruple play is a marketing term from the telecom industry. It refers to the simultaneous provision of four communication and entertainment services: Internet, television (IPTV), fixed telephony and mobile telephony. By making a competitive offer for all these services in one package, customers are enticed to purchase these services at the same time from the same provider.
The services typically use a fixed broadband connection and a mobile network. The fixed connection can be based on cable (CAI), DSL or fiber. Mobile can run over 3G and 4G, among other networks. If a provider does not have its own mobile or fixed network, a combination of services over its own networks and those of other providers is possible.
The emergence of quadruple play as a sales strategy is a response to the adoption of triple play.
