Mail order company
Also called: mail order
The term mail order refers to the remote purchase of products that are delivered to the customer 's home by mail or courier. Originally, orders were placed by telephone, or by filling out an order form that was then sent to the mail order company by mail or fax. The available assortment was often distributed by these companies through a periodic mail order catalog.
Today, distance buying has largely moved to the Internet. This form of e-commerce still qualifies as mail order.
Some brands that have become big as mail order companies include Wehkamp, Neckermann, Otto and Pabo.
