A smartphone is a cell phone equipped with more computing power and a more comprehensive operating system than a regular phone. A smartphone provides access to the Internet and it is possible to expand the functionality of the phone as you choose through apps.
The smartphone is basically a cross between a cell phone and a palmtop computer. Almost all smartphones are equipped with a touch screen(touchscreen), GPS and a camera. Access to the Internet is possible over the mobile provider 's 3G or 4G network as well as via wireless Internet(WiFi).
Well-known smartphone developers include Apple (iPhone), Samsung, LG, Blackberry and HTC. Popular operating systems include iOS (Apple), Android (Gooogle) and Windows Phone (Microsoft). Phones that lack the more extensive features of a smartphone are also called dumbphones.
