Press conference
A press conference is a meeting organized to provide information to the media. The press meeting usually begins with one or more statements by persons representing the press conference organization, after which journalists present have the opportunity to ask questions.
There may be several occasions for holding a press conference. Some examples:
- Launching a new product;
- Announcement of a company's acquisition or IPO;
- Before and after a sports game;
- Presentation of political plans.
A press conference is usually preceded by a press release. In certain cases, journalists in attendance may be given a press kit.
