A quick scan is a limited investigation within an organization or of a particular product. Its purpose is a global evaluation, identifying the main opportunities, bottlenecks and possibilities for improvement. The results of the quick scan can lead to a more extensive analysis. The immediate implementation of found quick wins can also be a first follow-up step.
Quickscans are often offered free or at low cost in the business world. For an agency, offering a quick scan (e.g., for a second opinion) is an interesting opportunity to find and retain new clients. A quick scan can also be performed in-house.
Quick scans generally use only already known information. This makes a quick scan as a form of research a form of desk research.
