Web 3.0
Web 3.0 is nothing more and nothing less than the third and newest version of the Internet. It is a more reliable, more open, more intelligent and a more autonomous network than the "old" Web 2.0. Web 3.0 depends largely on machine learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology. Web 3.0 brings a more personal and customized browsing experience. Web 3.0 is related to the Semantic Web. In this semantic web, not only texts are semantically connected, but also other media such as photos, videos and audio. Through blockchain technology, the Internet becomes more decentralized, equitable and reliable than its predecessors.
From Web 1.0. to Web 3.0.
From 1989 to 2005, we used Web 1.0. This was the first and the most reliable version of the Internet. The Internet was still in its infancy, not many people used it yet, and those who did used it mainly to retrieve information. User interaction was not possible and there were no algorithms.
Starting in 2005, we moved to Web 2.0. This Web was a lot more advanced, making it a lot more interactive. Web 2.0 was therefore called the social web. Web platforms such as Google, YouTube, Facebook, Wikipedia, were developed and now determine content. By taking power back from Web giants, Web 3.0 aims to democratize the Internet and create a better, safer experience for all users.
