E-learning
E-learning is a collective term for learning environments that involve the use of information and communication technologies. The letter E therefore refers to the electronic component. E-learning makes it possible to use learning methods completely remotely. These digital learning methods are widely used in education, business and by the government. The learning materials can be provided through texts but interactive elements (in the form of games and videos) can also be added to the learning materials. The digital learning materials are usually placed in a digital learning environment. This learning environment is also called a Learning Management System (LMS). This environment can be designed in such a way that, if desired, access can be provided only to authorized users.
Benefits of e-learning
E-learning is a flexible form of providing or using education that has many practical advantages. For example, the teaching material is available 24/7 and the student can often go through the program at their own pace. In addition, there are savings in both time and cost. After all, there is no need for travel and the associated costs. In addition, the course material is relatively easy to adapt and can therefore be kept well up-to-date. Finally, e-learning offers every opportunity to create a digital portfolio in which the student's progress and the results achieved can be recorded.
Internet education also provides every opportunity for blended learning. This is a teaching method also known as hybrid learning. In this teaching method, e-learning is used to support an educational program in which personal contact between the educator and his/her trainees/students is the basis.
