Drip campaign
Also called: drip campaign
A drip campaign is a series of automated messages sent to people who take a specific action. Drip campaigns are often part of email marketing, but we often see this principle in social media marketing as well. A drip campaign falls under marketing automation.
With a drip campaign, you send drip information to the audience. The messages are often automated and sent on a preset schedule in response to an action by the audience. Examples of actions include: placing an order, viewing a product, or contacting customer service. Because the messages are action-based, the audience receives relevant information exactly when they need it.
Drip campaigns contribute to lead generation and increased conversion. Because information arrives drop by drop, people are exposed to a brand and/or product multiple times. This repeated exposure increases brand awareness and the likelihood of purchase.
