A banner is a traditional form of online advertisement, where graphic design is key. Clicking on a banner opens a page where more information can be found about the subject of the advertisement.
A banner can be formatted in different file formats and different shapes. Generally, it is Flash, GIF or JPG and can be either a static illustration or a moving image.
Common formats for banners are the full banner (468×60 pixels), rectangle (300×250 pixels), leaderboard (728×90 pixels) and skyscraper (120×600 pixels).
