Marketing operations
Also known as: MarOps or MarketingOps
Marketing operations is a term for the procedures that are followed within an organization to shape all processes and projects in the most efficient way so that the maximum return is obtained from them. These procedures bring together traditional marketing skills (coming from people, processes, technology and data) in the most efficient way. Marketing operations makes it possible to streamline and manage the combination of technical and analytical skills on the one hand with the increasing complexity and quantity of initiatives on the other. The rationale behind this is that the various projects within the organization complement each other and contribute to achieving longer-term goals. Marketing operations can provide an excellent foundation for business growth and the effective realization of a marketing strategy.
Difference between marketing operations and marketing coordination
The above immediately indicates the main difference between marketing operations and marketing coordination. In the latter case, the focus is on the short term and a number of specific objectives. Operational and tactical choices are made. Marketing operations focuses on the longer term, with strategic choices being made. A marketing operations manager will therefore manage a group of projects and make choices focused on long-term growth. A marketing coordinator manages one or more individual projects.
