Google Suggest
Google Suggest is a search engine feature that offers users suggestions of search terms they can make use of. These suggestions are offered the moment the user enters the search term in the search bar. Google will then display a number of suggestions in a window below the search bar. These suggestions are displayed based on search volume (i.e., search frequency), past search behavior and the user's location. Google Suggest was launched early this century to provide more service to the user. The main advantage of Google Suggest is that the user gets to see his/her desired search result faster, without performing a new search.
Why Google Suggest is now called Google Autocomplete
Google Suggest is the name for a functionality now called Google Autocomplete. This name change was made to give this feature a more general name. A more general name was chosen because the results displayed(keyword suggestions) do not always include terms that Google as an organization supports.
Here's how Google Suggest works
The Google Suggest additions are generated automatically. Based on experience, Google often knows very well what the user is looking for. The operation of Google Suggest is easy to explain. During the typing of the query in the search bar, this data is sent to the connected servers that automatically make suggestions. companies can respond to this in a convenient way by optimizing their content based on long tail keywords. Indeed, the results that Google displays are often designed as phrases to provide more clarity to the user.
Google Suggest cannot be influenced in a direct way through search engine optimization (SEO) but this feature certainly affects an organization's image. It is therefore very important to make use of this feature to ensure that the target audience is alerted to positive content about a company, product or service. In addition, Google Suggest can also be seen as an SEO tool to gain insight into search terms (and combinations thereof) that have not yet been considered. After all, Google Autocomplete provides insight into the search terms (commonly used by the target audience).
