CSV, comma separated values
The letters CSV stand for the term comma separated values which can be translated as comma-separated values. This is a file type used when shaping or using table files such as Excel. A CSV file is plain text separated by commas. The distinguishing value of CSV files is that the information is not stored in columns but by separating them by commas. This allows texts and numbers stored in a CSV file to be easily moved (imported or exported) between different programs. The resulting data is human-readable and can be edited using a word processor or spreadsheet program. Opening a CSV file can be done in different programs if desired. The advantage of a CSV file as opposed to a regular Excel file is that the data is more easily separated. This makes it easier to unleash a particular formula on a row of data.
