Google Image Labeler
Google Image Labeler is an online game initiated by the search engine with the underlying objective of optimizing search engine functionality. In this online game, Google asks two random users to attach tags (labels) to an image. If these two random players give the same tag to an image, they receive 100 points and the next photo is offered for review. Photos that are too unclear can be discarded. Besides the fact that many people find this a fun activity and this is even encouraged by the gamification effect, the search engine also has another objective in doing this. After all, the idea behind it is that if two people attach the same tag to an image, it will be correct. This makes this tag suitable for use in search results. As a result, a Google image search should give better results in the future. Google Image Labeler can thus be seen as a clever concept that Google is using to further optimize its service. So this application is more than a simple game.
