Script

Also known as: scenario

A script or scenario is the written-out version of the spoken text of a film, TV series or commercial. The script describes not only what is said, but also by whom and when. In addition, the script may contain instructions for the actors or voice actors.

In a broader sense, a script can also be a description of what is supposed to happen in an audiovisual production, similar to a storyboard or script. In addition to text, this can also refer to other sounds and what can be seen on screen.

The term scripting is also found in information technology. Here, a script includes a series of instructions to be executed by a program. A scripting language is a higher-level programming language. An example of such a scripting language is JavaScript.
