Duns Number
The duns number is a 9-digit code developed by (Dun & Bradstreet) and works as a globally recognized system by which businesses are recognized. You can apply for a Duns number and then use it with various international parties so that you and your company are recognized. But surely the biggest application of the D-U-N-S number is in larger companies where it can be integrated with an ERP system, for example.
The European Commission, the United Nations, but also Google, for example, use the Duns number to recognize companies. It thus provides structure to the data and makes it more suitable for exchanging data.
