Smart speaker marketing
One consequence of voice technology is smart speaker marketing. Nowadays, we are all familiar with smart speakers. This voice-controlled technology offers the opportunity to significantly increase your company's customer experience. Within voice technologies, two types of technologies can be distinguished:
- Voice search: People ask specific questions to a smart speaker or voice assistant to obtain information (informational)
- Voice dialogue: People have a conversation with the voice assistant or smart speaker. For this, the voice assistants or companies themselves have curated a storyline
An example of a voice search command is asking for the weather, a recipe or some other solution. With a voice dialogue, you can think of a conversation with the assistant of a company such as Bol.com or of the speaker itself. But how can you use smart speaker marketing as a business? We're going to talk more about that below.
Is smart speaker marketing for you?
Employing smart speaker marketing as a business helps you fulfill a user's need. The findability of your website is increased through another channel. This is different from the traditional search on your phone or computer. It does not necessarily matter if the user is actually looking for your product or service. But it can certainly help in making a purchase.
For example, people can use their Smart speaker to ask what the promotions are at Bol.com or Albert Heijn. In addition, if you make it possible to make a purchase right away via a Smart speaker, you are doing a good job. The disadvantage of smart speaker marketing is accessibility. A big company like Google can turn this into an additional channel much easier, as they themselves offer a smart speaker called Google Home, so they already own the voice technology. So it is important to weigh whether smart speaker marketing is really necessary for your business. Right now, the popularity of smart speaker marketing is not yet big enough for a small business to bet on it.
