Low-budget
Also known as: low-cost
Low budget can be translated directly from English as "low budget. The term refers to products, services and other activities produced at the lowest possible cost. The term is used in part for cheaply produced movies, inexpensive hotels and flying on low-cost airlines.
When creating and selling products that qualify as low-budget, as many costs as possible are saved. This includes working with fewer and/or cheaper personnel and no expensive marketing campaigns. The products are not necessarily of lower quality, at most simpler. With their positioning, low-budget products appeal to target groups that have less to spend or for whom extra luxury and expensive marketing has no or limited value.
At a low-budget hotel, rooms are smaller and less luxurious, often check-in is automated and breakfast is very basic or even missing. With a low-cost airline, passengers have less legroom and must pay for luggage and other extras that are included in the ticket price on many of the more expensive airlines.
Marketing activities carried out with great creativity and a small budget are also known as guerilla marketing.
