Thought leadership
Thought leaders are individuals, companies or organizations that occupy a leading and distinctive position within their field. Individuals and organizations that award themselves the designation thought leader indicate, for example, that they have a progressive, innovative view of the market and use their expertise to break through conventional patterns of work and thought.
Not only are thought leaders innovative, which can lead to new inventions, but having an inspiring and divergent vision is an important characteristic. The thought leader thinks for a group that then conforms to what the leader says or writes. An individual or company may attribute thought leadership to itself, but only really has it when it is recognized by others. At the same time, the image of thought leader can have great appeal to the market and potential customers.
An example of a thoughtleader is Steve Jobs, whose image as a forward thinker and innovator contributed greatly to the popularity of Apple's products.
