Acquisition
Also called: customer acquisition, sales, approach or sale
Acquisition is another word for the active recruitment of new customers and orders. It is Latin for "obtaining" or "recruiting. Acquisition is part of an organization's sales activities.
Cold versus warm acquisition
When there is no existing connection between supplier and potential customer, it is cold acquisition. The potential customer is approached unsolicited. This is usually done by telephone, often in response to a letter or e-mail sent. Because individuals or companies often do not know the acquiring party or have no desire for the contact, cold acquisition is perceived as annoying and the method is often less effective.
The opposite of cold acquisition is warm acquisition. This focuses on existing relationships. Existing customers receive a targeted offer. This may be at the supplier's initiative, or it may be that warm acquisition takes place at the end of a phone call by the customer.
Warm acquisition is usually more effective and usually leads to a better and longer-lasting customer relationship.
Acquisition not appreciated
If it says under a job ad that "acquisition is not appreciated," it means that the organization is not waiting for selection agencies and headhunters to offer their services in response to the vacancy.
Scams that consist of making an offer under false conditions are called acquisition fraud.
