Wear out
Wear out is English for wear out or wear off. In the marketing world, wear out is the effect that a campaign loses impact when ads are repeated often over a long period of time. In some cases, this repetition may even be perceived by the public as annoying, thus negatively impacting the campaign's image.
The wearout factor also depends on the frequency of advertising, the target audience, the duration of an advertising campaign, the quality of the advertising and the variation within the campaign. Some campaigns can be continued for years without suffering from wearout, while others lose their effectiveness after only a few weeks.
