C-brand
Also called: white brand or discount brand
What is a C-brand?
A C-brand is a low-cost brand whose items target the lower end of the market. Unlike A-brands and B-brands, C-brands focus on target groups for whom price is the main motivation for choosing a product. Quality is less important to these consumers, and brand perception and brand awareness hardly play a role.
What is the difference between A-B and C brands?
C-brand products are not advertised, they have simple packaging, and they are often produced with cheaper raw materials. C-brand products may come from the same factory as A-brands and/or B-brands, as part of a strategy to serve the market as widely as possible with the same factory.
Who produces c-brand products?
A C-brand can either be independent or owned by a concern with multiple brands. If a C-brand is owned by the retail company where it is sold we speak of a private label or own brand.
