Crawling
Crawlers are search engine software bots that explore your site to index its content. In crawling, the relevant information is incorporated into the search engine by the bot. A website that cannot be crawled properly is worse to find in the search engine. Therefore, it is important that your website is also clear to crawlers and not only to visitors. When crawlers index your website, they look at the content and quality of your website and pages. Based on authority, frequency of updates and popularity, your website will be visited less often or more often. Therefore, it is important for your search engine optimization that your website is easy to crawl.
Link Structure
A crawler should be able to move across your website as easily as possible. On your website, a bot moves across pages by following external links. Based on how easily a bot moves across your website, it will be indexed. To optimize this, it is wise to create a good link structure. You do this by:
- txt - You can choose to exclude portions of your page from crawlers. You do this by putting crawl restrictions in the robots.txt file
- Link building - Getting as many links as possible from other Web sites to link to pages on your Web site. These referring links are called backlinks. This improves your position in Google if implemented properly
- Backlinks - Links that point to your website. Not every link has a positive effect on your Google position, it depends on several factors
- Value backlink - Value depends on relevance, text, authority, reliability, location and 'Follow' or 'No Follow'
Crawlbudget
Google uses the crawl budget to determine how long the crawlers crawl over your website. The higher your budget, the longer Google takes. Large businesses often have a high budget and a strong team to optimize the website. But if you are a small business, it is wise to make your website as crawlable as possible to reduce these costs and rank higher in the search engine. In Google Webmaster Tools, a special crawl category has been created that contains features that tell you more about crawl errors, statistics and sitemaps. A crawl error is a broken link. A user will then see a 404 error message. This causes loss of important link value and crawl budget to wrong pages.
