Google Trends
Google Trends is a tool from Google that provides insight into usage of the popular search engine.
In fact, Google Trends itself is a search engine, but one that searches the searches entered into Google. Trends can be used to look up how often a particular search term has been searched. This data can be compared to statistics from a desired time period to determine trends in search behavior.
Because Google Trends also suggests related search terms, the popularity can also be compared with other searches and new search combinations can be found. This feature is useful, for example, when conducting keyword research. For seasonal industries, it is interesting to know from which moment the search behavior of potential customers increases.
The usage figures can be filtered country, region and even city if desired. In addition to insight into the use of Google Search, Google Trends also provides information on the search usage of Google Images, Google News, Google Shopping and YouTube.
The data from which Google Trends draws is referred to by Google as a largely unfiltered sample of real searches. Because the data used is anonymized, interest in a search query or topic can be queried without identifying individual Google users and their data.
