Reply
Also called: reaction or RE
A reply is a response to a received message. Almost all e-mail programs have a function to reply to an e-mail. This opens a new message addressed to the sender of the email being replied to. The previous e-mail conversation is automatically placed below the new message so that it is clear what is being replied to.
A response to a previous e-mail message can usually be identified by the letters "RE" at the beginning of the subject line.
Often there is also a "reply to all" functionality, which sends a copy of the response to the other recipients of the e-mail message to which one is responding.
The term reply also occurs within social media. On Twitter, a reply is a tweet that responds to another tweet. The reply starts with the @username of the person being replied to.
