Emoji
An Emoji is an emoticon, in form of a small picture used to convey a particular emotion. These types of emoticons (in the form of a simply designed face with a specific facial expression) are frequently used as an alternative to describing an emotion in words. Emoji (a word used in both singular and plural and pronounced "e-moo-djzie") is a term frequently used in e-mail messages and when using social media. Emoji originated in Japan and have also been fully integrated into our society. A commonly used emoji is the image of the wink (????). This signals to the recipient that the message sent is not to be taken too seriously.
The emoji can be seen as the successor to the "emoticon-ascii".This is the graphic representation of an emotion by placing punctuation marks in succession so that a form of a drawing was formed. The smiling face was indicated in the past in form of 🙂 while today the ???? is used.
