Contextual advertisement
Also known as: contextual targeting
A contextual ad is an online ad placed based on the content of a Web site or Web page. For example, a banner for a shop selling gardening products on a forum about gardening. The process of placing relevant banners based on the content of a Web page is called contextual targeting.
Google Ads is an example of an advertising network where it is possible to place contextual ads. When advertising in Google's search results, this is done based on the visitor's search query, but companies can also advertise on websites within Google's content network, which includes websites such as YouTube and sites that work with Google AdSense. Within his campaign, the advertiser specifies keywords to determine in which topics his ad will be shown.
