Flight
On radio, television and the Internet, advertising campaigns are often split into different periods during which commercials are broadcast on television or banners are displayed on Web sites. Each cycle within such a campaign is called a flight. For example, it may be decided to run the commercials for a three-week flight, then halt the campaign for a week and finally schedule a second one-week flight.
Working with multiple flights separated by breaks extends the duration of the campaign. The spots or banners used during the flights can vary. For example, advertising spots are often shortened after the first flight. The breaks between flights can also provide additional insight when evaluating a marketing campaign.
