Cost per action
Also called: cpa, cost per sale(cps) or cost per lead(cpl)
Cost per action(abbreviation: CPA) represents the cost of a particular action performed by a visitor. The term is common within affiliate marketing, but also in other forms of online marketing.
The action is almost always a form of conversion. A visitor orders a product or shows interest in it. This is also referred to as cost per sale (CPS) or cost per lead (CPL), respectively. We also speak of cost per acquisition.
With cost per action, an advertiser pays for the actual revenue generated from a marketing campaign. This lowers the advertiser's risk and encourages publishers and affiliates to put out statements as attractively and effectively as possible.
