Banner position
A banner position refers to a place within a Web site reserved for placing a banner. A web page can contain one or more banner positions. The banner positions make up the site's inventory. The rates for advertising on the various positions can be found on the corresponding rate card.
The term primarily refers to the location on the page. Here, banner positions with the best visibility and attention value represent the highest financial value. For the exploitation of the banner position, the size (height and width in pixels) is also relevant. General standards exist for the format of banners, such as leaderboard and rectangle.
In addition to location and available space, the website publisher may also have certain rules per banner position regarding the creatives to be delivered. Such as the file size, the presence and intensity of animations and the inclusion of video. Different standards have been set by the IAB on this.
