House ad
A house ad is an ad that does not advertise an outside advertiser, but rather a publisher's own product, service or page. House ads can appear in various media, such as newspapers, magazines and websites. They are mainly used to fill unsold advertising space, in order to still get value out of it.
These ads highlight the publisher's own products and services. This could include subscriptions or special products in an in-house shop. House ads can also be used to advertise advertising opportunities.
On a website, banners may link to a page within the same website or a page on another publisher's website. When a publisher has an interest in structural space for house ads, sometimes part of the advertising space is reserved in advance for its own promotions.
