Affiliate

An affiliate is the party, usually a website, that has the role of publisher within affiliate marketing. The affiliate places banners and/or text links that point to advertisers' websites. For services rendered to attract visitors and (potential) customers for the advertiser, the affiliate receives compensation. Often this depends on the number of clicks or number of sales.
Affiliates and advertisers are usually linked together through an affiliate network, which also takes care of the administrative handling of campaigns and transactions.
