Typography
Typography is the doctrine of shaping, formatting, typesetting and printing text. It focuses on both functionality (legibility) and the aesthetics of formatting. Even in this digital age, many typographic concepts and principles still have their roots as far back as the early history of printing.
Typography is often thought of first in terms of the choice of fonts. However, typography is also concerned with the layout of the page (including consisting of text blocks, typesetting widths and margins), font sizes and types, spacing between letters, lines of text and columns, the use of punctuation, and whether or not to work with colors.
All this to support the appearance of a text and the recognition of its various (hierarchical) components, taking into account the purpose of the text and the medium on which it is printed or displayed.
