Typeface
Also called: move width
The typesetting area is the printed area of a page. Its size is determined by the size of the paper and the margins at the edges of the page.
The ratio of the type area to the white space of a page is also known as the type area and contributes to the appearance and readability of a document and its text. In addition to the visual appearance, type area and page layout also determine the number of words per page and per line of text. The length of text lines is also called the type width.
Especially in certain types of printed materials, such as newspapers, magazines and brochures, the typesetting area is usually divided into several columns. Each column has its own type area. In order to use the available typesetting area as effectively as possible, hyphenation is often used.
If parts of the page, such as pictures, extend beyond the typesetting area (or even to the edge of the page) this is called bleed. Headers, footers and page numbers are also generally not considered part of the typesetting area.
