Page orientation
Also called: page orientation or print orientation
Page orientation refers to the position in which a page is printed and thus the intended orientation for viewing it. This rotation can be portrait or landscape. Here a portrait orientation is most common for books, magazines and other printed matter.
In addition to paper and printed matter, the term is also used for the orientation of (computer) screens. For screens, a landscape format is most common. The viewing angle is often optimized for this as well. An exception are smartphones and (small) tablets, which are usually held in the hand in portrait orientation.
When the height and width are different, the orientation also determines the aspect ratio, or at least the order in which it is noted.
